Saturday Box Office Update

Rush Hour 3 looks like its gonna debut a little weaker than expected. It pulled in an estimated $18.5 million on Friday, about 20% less than the $22.9 million Rush Hour 2 managed on its opening day six years ago. By this account, Rush Hour 3 should still be able to manage about $55 million for the weekend, though most analysts had predicted a $60 million + bow for the action/comedy. Stardust faired much worse than predicted, pulling in an estimated $3.0 million Friday, which should translate into around $8-9 million for the weekend. With a $70 million budget, its a pretty disastrous start. The most alarming start has to be Skinwalkers, which pulled in $0.17 million from 773 sites. That's $177,000. I crap that kind of money at night.
